Boyer Glassworks: Turning Glass into Art
Artist Harry Boyer plays with color every day with pieces of glass. Boyer Glassworks in Harbor Springs is Harry's playground. And what a colorful playground it is.
The Ohio native studied art in college and opened the studio in downtown Harbor Springs in 1984. This is a working studio where visitors can watch Harry as he takes molten glass and transforms them into vases, paperweights, Christmas ornaments, and art objects like colorful fish and lamps. Visiting this gallery is a combination of awe at the art that Harry has created and excitement over the colors and vibrancy of the glasswork.
This gallery's shelves are filled with Harry's glass. Harry is a glassblower that continually works to include old techniques to new art designs and new techniques to ancient designs.
Entering Boyer Glassworks is an experience of its own: during the warm weather months, the garden includes not only colorful flowers but large, intricate glass in spectacular form such as a bird bath. Visiting this Northern Michigan art gallery and studio is an experience that will inspire and delight.
In the fall of each, Boyer Glassworks and Three Pines Gallery host the Great Lakes Glass Pumpkin Patch. Hundreds of one of a kind pieces of art make the Great Lakes Glass Pumpkin Patch a fabulous fall evetn.
